This is how his sunday afternoons used to be . A pizza ad reminded him that he was hungry.He had skipped lunch while watching a rom-com on his laptop and had fallen asleep.He decided to order a pizza. He started moving his limbs in hope of his digits grappling his cell phone.But that was futile.He realised that he will have to let go of the inactivity , arise and search for his phone.He rose and found his cell phone on the study table.Yawning with his jaws wide open than they would be for usual yawn,he looked up for Dominos number and dialled it.
After 2 rings , a sweet female voice answered,"Hello ,Dominos Pizza."

He: Maam,I would like to place an order for 1 medium Mexican Green wave pizza , garlic bread with cheese dip and one chicken kickers and one coke.
She: 1 Mexican green wave,garlic bread with Cheese dip and .....
He: One chicken Kickers and one coke.
She: Is there anything else you would like to order,Sir??
He: No Maam,that would be enough.
She:Sir, your address..??

He told her the address and asked whether he would get the order he placed for free if the Pizza is not delivered before 30 minutes.The voice on the other side reassured.After he had hung up,he realized he had missed something."Oh gosh..how could I forget chocolava?",he said to himself as he re-dialed the number.After ordering the chocolava he once again made sure about the "delivery-before-30-minutes-or-pizza-free" thing before hanging up.He had gathered all of his senses back by this time.

He kept on changing the channels before he finally settled on Star Movies that was playing "The Ugly Truth".It is going to be one good afternoon
with the movie and the pizza,he thought.Won't it be even better,if the delivery guy gets late and he gets the pizza for free,he extended his imagination sincerely hoping that the delivery guy does not arrive before 30 minutes . He looked at the clock to learn that it had been 15 minutes since he placed the order.He washed his face and got rid of the apathy.He checked his wallet to ensure he had the required change.He once again checked the time.ETA - 5 minutes.

His previous experiences with Dominos reminded him that the last 5 minute window of the 30 minutes bracket was the time when the pizza usually arrived.He started becoming restless.ETA 1 minute.His excitement grew with every second.He waited for a few more minutes.When the clock struck 5 minutes past ETA , he rose with a start and walked up to the window.While dialing dominos he saw through the window a mob at the nearby square.His excitement of the free pizza made him ingnore that.

As soon as the same sweet voice on the other side,this time,abeit adulterated, answered the call,he set off with such excitement that every word he
spoke demanded the free pizza . After he was done,the sweet yet adulterated voice said , " Sir, I was about to call you to inform that the guy who had been dispatched to deliver your order met an accident on the way.We would be sending.......".
He did not even let her complete the sentence and hung up.He searched for his bike keys to rush to the spot.On the way it dawned on him what the mob was about.On reaching the square , he saw the delivery guy being carried into an auto.He felt worried.He learnt from the people that the accident wasnt a severe one.That consoled him a bit.Before leaving the place ,he shot one final look at the scattered pizza and coke spilled all over the road.He did not have the heart to eat pizza that day.

A few days later,on another such sunday afternoon,

"Maam,I'd like to order 1 mexican Green wave........",He spoke slowly.
"Sir,is there anything else........??",she asked.
"Thank you Maam,that would be enough.....My address is....",he clearly uttered each word so that he need not have to repeat.
"Thanks for calling Sir....Have a nice day!".It was a routine for her.

"And Maam,one more thing",he paused for a while before he signed off saying,
.
.
.
"Maam,It's perfectly fine if it takes more than 30 minutes.Its perfectly fine."Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-54307214553595333262012-01-07T18:38:00.003+05:302012-01-07T19:01:51.200+05:30A few lessons from 2011* Expectations , that you have from people , are like an item girl's clothes , the lesser the better.

* Expectations , that people have from you, are like a company's sales targets ,you achieve one and there is a bigger one lying ahead.

* You feel great as a person when you are pursuing something (except a girl,you actually feel helpless then).

* Solitude is a blessing in disguise.

* At some point of time in life , you have to stop chasing fantasies and start pursuing what is more materialistic.

* There is nothing in life called "selfishness" , its just striving for own good which we all do at one or the other time in life.

* Money can't buy happiness.But it certainly helps you do things that bring in happiness.

* A person's reticence doesn't by any mean always imply dumbness or snobbish behavior.

* There is no greater enigma in the world than a woman.Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-66843622268849271262012-01-01T15:54:00.004+05:302012-01-01T16:19:37.544+05:30Sherlock Holmes-The Game of shadows :Movie Review<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 213px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-d-pQ2ZJ2xdo/TwA37zsEYhI/AAAAAAAAAXk/OEyknZFLLlM/s400/sherlock.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692611429623161362" />

If Sir Arthur Conan Doyle were alive today , he definately would have marvelled at Guy Ritchie's reinvention of his amazingly intellectual sleuth character that he had etched into the minds of his readers .He too would have agreed that there could have been no better man than Robert Downey Jr to play Sherly. Whether he would be contented or not ,at Guy Ritchie's treatment to his work,remains a debatable question.

The second outing of Sherlock Holmes picks shortly after where the first ended.France and Germany are at each other's throats over a series of bombings that Sherlock's arch-rival,Professor Moriarty, has engineered with the help of anarchists.His ulterior motive is to annoy both countries so much as to wage a war amongst themselves and create a demand for arms and ammunition which would be supplied by Professor James Moriarty who is an arms manufacturer.Meanwhile, Holmes most trusted yokefellow Dr.Watson(Jude Law)is going to quit his association with Holmes and leave crime-solving behind.But after Sherlock's interference in Moriarty's evil machinations,he decides to strike those closest to Holmes .Thus Holmes manages to drag Watson into helping him outwit his fiercest adversary with the help of gypsy named Sim(Noomi Rapace).

What's in there??
Like the last installment,Guy Ritchie resorts to use of flashbacks that reveal that the previous moments were not as we saw them.The flashbacks aren't forced but are an integral part of the film.Action sequences have been used at large to create a fast-paced,spectacular and a visually stunning motion picture.The train fight ,Holmes predetermined act to shove Watson's newly wed off the train and thus ensure her safety with the help of his brother Mycroft, the pub brawl,the forest escape are all too engaging for you to even breathe.The slow-motion sequences showing Holmes puts his science of deduction to use are mesmerizing.The slow-mo sequence at final showdown wherein both Holmes and Moriarty both plan blows and moves to ward them off to downsize each other is exceptional and deserves an applause.The dialogue about chess rivalry between the two at the climax is a treat to watch.Also one cannot forget to mention Holmes unfeasible and overtly conspicous camouflage and disguises that add to the comic element.

Apart fromt these,the bromance between Holmes and Watson is witty ,humorous and makes you want more of it. And,there is this unconventional chemistry between Holmes and his intellectual equal,Moriarty that stands out. They respect each other's intellect as much as they hate the way the other uses it. The complexity of their relationship can be drawn from the scene where Sherlock tries to negotiate with Moriarty to keep Watson out of the war between the two and later Moriarty making it clear to Holmes that the reason Holmes is alive is because of the respect that he has for Holmes's intellect.This all happens amidst the 19th century setting which is completely plausible.Overall,its the sleek and well-shot action sequences by director Guy Ritchie that set the adrenaline gushing and make the film more than just watchable.

What's missing?
Did I say there is a lot of action? Well,that's strange of Sherlock Holmes who rather resorts to suave ways of subduing the opponents.The science of deduction which Sherlock is famous for is hardly used.We hardly get to see how Holmes reached the conclusions.Also,the moment you feel that you would be able to dive a little deeper into Holmes mysterious,eccentric character and get to explore his vulnerabilities,another action sequence shatters your expectations.The character development is a little dissatisying. Moriarty's character lacks the fiendish touch.In the stories,he is this one criminal figure who even though is intellectually equal to Sherlock has an advantage over him because of his moral insanity.This fact isnt evident from Moriarty's character in the film. Inspector Lestrade's character has just an iota of work to do unlike the short stories .The film's background score (by Hans Zimmerman) hardly gets noticed.

The performances:
Robert Downey Jr is definately a show stealer.His diction is flawless.From being caught in a drug abuse few years ago to being one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood ,Downey Jr has come a long way.He effortlessly plays the kick ass,extremely genius ,methodical,bare-knuckle fighter,Sherlock yet at times you see his character reminding you of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow.Jude Law stealthily plays his part as the side-kick yet his portrayal stands out.Jared Harris does justice to Professor Moriarty.If only his character had the satanic touch,he would be the one walking away with the accolades.Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler could have been done away with.Noomi Rapace as Sim ,the gypsy,probably wonders what is she doing in this entirely male-oriented film yet she manages to drag along.

Verdict:
A must watch movie to ensure a good start to the 2012.A perfect blend of action,engrossing dialogues,unavoidable characters and sharply exact amount of comedy make it an ideal holiday entertainment.

P.S:
I just realized that review writing is one hell of a task.And this being my first attempt at writing a movie review I must admit I had to refer to other reviews of this film .Don't contempt me ,if you find phrases used here similar to some other reviews you read. I also believe that to err is human and to tell him that he has erred and what he should do to rectify it is nothing short of divine.And your divinity is sincerely solicited.Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-72387417386066668782011-12-31T11:45:00.002+05:302011-12-31T11:54:03.768+05:30I wanna be a ..... I wanted to be an Air force officer.I wanted to fly in the skies,son the pilotwear,put on the aviator,hold the helmet in the cusp of my arm and salute from the cockpit while the jet takes off.I had even started asking people about how to get there.Yeah,but,this was when I was in the fifth grade.

I also remembered me wanting to be an astronaut(courtesy:Captain Vyom).I thought being an astronaut meant kicking asses of ugly looking ,creepy creatures,getting to drive a spacecraft and use the laser gun.

Later ,when I grew up a little ,I heard stories about the S.P of my hometown beating the daylights out of criminals,I realized that I wanted to do the same and decided to join the IPS.Yeah , but this was before Hrithik made his debut and Sachin was enthroned the status of God.

Right from a bus conductor to an actor,a truck driver to a cricketer,as a teen ,I have dreamed of being everything.And now ,when I am 22 with a bachelors in I.T, things havent pretty changed much except that now my "I-wanna-be-a" desires are quite plausible.They say one should do what one likes to do.But what if one is not sure what exactly one likes?what if one likes to do one thing as much as he likes to do another?

Sometimes,I feel lost amongst a myriad of desires.I wish that when the genuine "what-I-want-to-be" strikes me ,it strikes as a lightning bolt.Because,it has struck me before and then the feeling has faded away.To all those people ,if at all there are any,who haven't yet figured out what are you inclined to do,I just wanna say,you are not alone!!Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-14496536101924432972011-11-27T16:36:00.003+05:302011-11-27T17:03:48.922+05:30FDI in Indian retail :The pros and cons One thing that has been doing the rounds the past few days on the news is about Government allowing Foreign Direct Investment in retailing sector and the political storm it has sparked in the opposition parties.So what is the hoopla all about?

The decision:
After a decade long debate , the Govt has allowed the foreign retailers to hold upto 51% stakes in multibrand retail and has raised the investment in single-brand from 51% to 100%

What does that mean??
Lets put is this way. 10 years ago a wealthy foreigner saw India as a booming market for investment in retail shop for his brand "X". But he was allowed to hold only 51% stake in the retail shop.He had to partner up with an Indian for the remaining.5 years after that ,he thought that now that his retail shop for brand X is doing well,why not team up with his other friends with brands "Y" and "Z" and open a multi-brand retail store.But the Indian FDI policy didn't allow him to do that.
But now,after the govt's move to encourage FDI in retail , he can hold 100% stake in his retail shop for brand "X". Not only that he can also go ahead with his idea of a multi-brand store with at max 51% stakes.

The restrictive clauses:
1.)Companies can open up the stores only in towns with population more than 1 milion.
2.)At least 50% investment has to be in back-end infrastructure like storages and warehouses.

What do these clauses mean?
- By means of the first clause , the companies will be allowed to target only those consumers who are already into "mall shopping culture" in urban cities . The small retailers in the towns with population less than a million will be kept
at bay from suffering.

- India is the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables . But lack of storage facilities , lack of adequate post harvest steps and cold chain infrastructure causes heavy losses to farmers . By the second restrictive clause,the government aims at trying to bring a world class back-end infrastructure which would reduce the losses.

The pros:

Consumers can get quality goods at a cheaper price.

Inflow of foriegn investment and hence growth opportunities.

It would fuel competition in local retail markets to survive . Healthy competition would mean improved quality and is in customer's benefit.

Increased labour force in back-end infrastructure services.

Increased employment in the front-end services

Prosperity of the small and medium scale enterprises as the retailers have been told to source 30 % of their requirement from small and medium enterprises.

Increased export as the retailers would want to export local goods to their outlets outside country

The retailers can resort to contract farming programmes along with measures like direct buying from the farmers which will dilute the role of profit siphoning intermediaries.This can enhance the income of the farmers and give them direct access to markets.

The cons:

Huge losses to unorganized retailing in the urban areas

In order to create monopoly ,the markets would resort to selling the goods at a very low price.
This would continue till the competition is eliminated.(predatory pricing)

Increase in real estate prices

Add to the already increasing muddle in the urban areas

Sources:

article by Hemant Batra

Article at mbaknol

An article in TOI

Reviews and opinions, please??Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-10338194385470199532011-11-26T23:44:00.003+05:302011-11-27T00:24:42.629+05:30Whattamatch!! "3 balls to go,3 runs to win and 2 wickets remaining!!" Does it not seem like the perfect script for a climax of a one-day or a 20-20 match.But the cricketing world witnessed this plot today on the final day of the final test match between W.I and India. The match which at one point seemed to close in India's favour went on to become a thriller of a game finally ending in a draw . Given the comfortable position that India was once at while chasing a total of 242,we must say,the windies snatched a draw from the Indians.

This match, on the 3rd day was predicted to end in a draw.Darren Bravo even went on to say that if this match has a result he would tattoo Dhoni's face on his back.This has probably been only the second time that a Test has been drawn with scores level.( Bulawayo-test between Zimbabwe and England being the first one).The last 30 minutes of the game were a spectacular display of the batsmen and the bowlers outwitting each other every alternate ball.

The windies seemed contented having deprived India a whitewash and the Indians had to sing their victory song with a choked voice.Whatever,like Ravi Shastri put it, the final session of the match was a great Advert for the game!!Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-8436145801453042572011-07-13T19:32:00.002+05:302011-07-13T19:41:15.422+05:30God must have spent a lil more time on you...I keep wondering everytime I think of you,
Celestial or real,what really are you?
Everything about you forces me to question,
Did God spend a little more time on you??

Your eyes twinkle like the early morning dew,
You give the beings around ,a reason to live,
I bet,you gave the color its hue,
coz God really spent a little more time on you!!

With your scowl arrives autumn,your mirth invites blossom
The rainbow reminds me of a smiling you,
You tucking the wisp of hair is a sight to a priviledged few,
Yes,God must have really spent a lil' more time on you.

I lost myself when I mused about you,
Fell for your eyes and the enigma grew.
A mere glimpse of you convinces me that its true,
God certainly has spent a lil' more time on you...!!!

Courtesy:-God must have spent...The song by NsyncAkshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-22502537719776206332011-02-05T14:03:00.003+05:302011-02-05T14:17:50.631+05:30A short story..."More money,huh??I gave you more than enough money on your bday to party with your friends, not to mention the new Iphone that I and your Mom gifted you",His dad said with the same composure that he had shown throughout his life.
There was only one thing that perturbed this rich businessman,his son.His reckless attitude towards life, his lack of reverence for the things around and his unmannered behaviour worried him more than anything else.

"Dad,for God's sake,the exams just got over,I need some more money",He said with all the desperation he could.

"Son,I am not letting you squander my money this way",his Dad was adamant and determined not to give in this time to his son's demands.

"Dad...please",he pleaded several times,his frustration growing with every denial.

"I am sorry,son...not this time."

He gave up and stomped away.The moment his father heard the roaring of the car engine,he shouted ,"drive safe and come back soon."
Whenver frustrated he used to vent his frustration by racing the car with great speed.

He was on a bridge now.He saw the warning sign but was too occupied with thoughts to notice and slow down.
"Where am I gonna get the money from ??",no answer...helplessness...speed 70 mph.

"He does not want me to be happy.Why else would he deny me the money??" no answer...anger..speed 90 mph

"I will borrow from a friend.Oh shit..I lost the bet last time and I already owe him 3000 bucks...damn it"...frustration..speed 110 mph.

"Oh..fuck!!" Its going to be drudgery if I begin this post by saying that "its been a long time since I wrote my last post ".Thats what i usually do.I agree it has been a long time ,really long ,but I have had reasons.I neither had anything happening to write nor the required motivation.A couple of times I even began writing ,but gave up after a couple of lines.Then why all of a sudden today??Well,no specific reason,just felt a very strong yearning and so here I am .I am not even sure whether this will even be read by a single soul.

So,what am I gonna write about?Nothing happening in particular.I am just gonna vent out things .Pardon me ,for the post is going to be very unorganised,It might not even make sense at times.So where do I start from?

To begin with,life @ Sungard is good,I have made a lot of good friends here.One thing I learnt at Sungard which is worth mentioning is playing table tennis.Its fun and it has become an essential part of my day's routine in company.And yes,our team is going to Marriot for team lunch coming friday.

I have started preparing for GRE and I just hope I dont give it up after a while like I have done before.I learnt to solve the Rubik's cube .It had been eluding me for quite a while before I figured it out 2 weeks ago .Felt good for a couple of days only untill I saw a video of a guy solving it in 9 seconds.

Books..ah..read a couple of books outta which "The Power of your subconcious mind" is an influential one.People ,a strong recommendation,get your hands on this one and peruse it. The gist of the book says that -Whatever you impress upon your subconcious mind has to happen.It says "Ask whole-heartedly and thou shall be given".

Money..hmm,yeah when you earn your living ,then do u realise how important money is.You get to do all the things which you refrained yourself from doing earlier just because you had no or less money.It feels better.

Movies..oh..just saw Narnia -the third part today.Lately ,I have seen just one movie with some substance -Guzaarish.The stars in it exemplified whatever Guzaarish stood for.Its a movie with a message-"Kiss slowly, forgive quickly,love truly..Life is too short."

Addictions....hehe ..,addicted to facebook and twitter just like everyone else, addicted to work ..yeah i have become a workoholic,addicted to playing table tennis in office hours between 5-6 p.m and finally 'sweetest things ' which is an old addiction and most needed one.

So people ,we are at the end.Goodwill ,hugs and wishes...Adieu!!Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-81084303074878732572010-08-22T10:07:00.003+05:302010-08-22T10:43:41.010+05:30Random Post...Cloud No.99!! It feels like a decade since I last sat down to write.I guess ,I was too hooked to twitter and SunGard is keeping me pretty busy as well.But blogging will always be my first love(?).

For all those who visit this page to read something interesting,I would say,it isnt worth it.This is just to satiate my hunger for writing .The past few days have been very fateful and I am so overwhelmed that I need something to channelize this feeling.What better than blogging...

Well....Yes ,I am on Cloud no 99.Yes..I always knew what fanaticism meant.But the fact that I am fanatic about all the good that has been happening to all the people(TOUCHWOOD..) who matter to me, sets this feeling apart.I wish everyday were the same.Things are happening for the first time and I am glad they are happenning but I am afraid too.Afraid of the time when it would all not be the same.But chuck it,who cares about that for the moment.May be one day everything will make sense.So as of now,I want to enjoy the confusion,I want to believe..everything happens for a reason!!

Eventually,I would like to thank all who contributed to this feeling..and embellishing this weekend of mine..Thanks for bearing with me...Goodwill ,hugs and wishes!!!!Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-66714249516107973182010-06-29T19:59:00.003+05:302010-06-29T20:29:36.383+05:30Political HellHere is a must-read article that I found while stumbling on the net.

A powerful senator dies after a prolonged illness. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.
"Welcome to Heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," says the guy.

"Well, I'd like to but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in Hell and one in Heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."

"Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in Heaven," says the senator.

"I'm sorry but we have our rules."

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to Hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him, everyone is very happy and in evening attire. They run to greet him, hug him, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster and caviar. Also present is the Devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a big hug and waves while the elevator rises. The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on Heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

"Now it's time to visit Heaven."

So 24 hours pass with the head of state joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

"Well then, you've spent a day in Hell and another in Heaven. Now choose your eternity."

He reflects for a minute, then the senator answers, "Well, I would never have said it, I mean Heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in Hell."

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to Hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he is in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags. The Devil comes over to him and lays his arm on his neck. "I don't understand," stammers the senator."Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and club and we ate lobster and caviar and danced and had a great time. Now all there is, is a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.

The Devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning! Today you voted for us! The election is over."Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-75737427771669369042010-05-25T21:21:00.003+05:302010-05-25T21:59:20.765+05:30The big switch Just five days ago,I used to live a life of a maverick.I used to be an engineering student at COEP.I was living my college life
to the fullest.All things said and done about engineering and about college life,I was experiencing them.Friends used to my family,the 10 X 10 sized
hostel room,my abode.Then suddenly 1st,2nd,3rd and then 4th year is gone and the college life is over...snap ....cuttt........and I am at my home
staring at a walls awaiting a new life,a new challenge.

As I retrospect my engineering days,I realise that I have still not been able to get over the nostalgia.I badly long for the hilarious lectures(yes they were hilarious) where learning was the last thing we did.I long for the after-lecture chats,the late night discussions,petty fights.I long for the 4.00 clock breakfast at mess and the meal with thousand others like me.
I long to share my secrets with closest friends and I long to have them share their secrets with me.I just cant get over the longing.

But it is the last day of engineering,the 14th May,that will hound me every now and then.Had the end not been so blissful and memorable,I would not have realised what it actually means to be on cloud no 99.It was nice..surreal but nice.And now everything has been compiled into a souvenir.A souvenir that will remind me of the best days of my life.A souvenir that is going to make it hard for me to move on.

Now,as I indulge myself in staring at the walls,looking into infinity,I am brought back to reality by my nephew who insists on showing me a magic trick with cards and then I look around and see my nieces and nephew awaiting my attention..I chuckle and let myself to be a subject to their prank.Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-31691526753929333242010-05-09T10:31:00.003+05:302010-05-09T11:26:17.225+05:30Dear Mom.....Dear Aai......,
You have no idea how overwhelmed I get when I think how proud I am to be born to you.What a wonderful human being you are ,Mom.I just cant find the right words to describe you.I really think,if God really existed,he could not have been better.

Mom,I must tell you that I still cherish the sight of you waiting for me to get back from school and the way you used to shout when I used to jump down from the running auto.I still vividly remember how patiently u heard me out preparing breakfast for me when I told you about how my day at school was.When you asked me,"What do you want for lunch in your tiffin today?" ,I used to give absurd answers,I used to demand food which took a lot trouble to prepare.But then in school,when I used to open my tiffin and see that you had happily gone and took the trouble to fulfill my demand,I used to be so ashamed of myself and so filled with gratitude.Aai,I am sorry for all the trouble I have caused you.Mom,I badly miss the time when you used to feed me with your own hand while I was busy watching T.V.

Mom,I fall short of words to describe the solace I find in you lap.I remember how my problems dont dare to bother me when you are around.I appreciate you for keeping me grounded,Mom.Aai,I just want to tell you that even if "Akshay" grows up for the world,I would be the same "pappu" for you.Aai,sometimes when i look at myself,I see reflections of your behaviour in me.If there is even a single thing good about me,if I am or were to be someone tomorrow ,I owe it to you, Mom,to you.....

Mom,this Mother's day ,I just want to let you know Mom,every moment I crave for your immaculate love and care.I am pretty sure whatever I do for you ,I will not be able to pay off your debt.

Mom,I simply love you so much..Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-58661223052854909772010-04-21T00:45:00.005+05:302010-04-21T01:12:25.378+05:30One night at the Bus Station When we started our journey to Water Kingdom this sunday morning we had hardly expected that the day would end like the way it did.We had hell of a fun at the Water Kingdom.The rides were real scary and so fearsome that before every ride there was an apprehension in everyone's mind. But the rides were really worth the fear and thrill .Thus the day was all fun and we were pretty exhausted and badly needed to get back to Pune and to our rooms and get good sleep.We had already had a lot of adventure at the Water Kingdom and there was no room left for another one.But destiny had some other plans for us.

We reached the hostel late at around 1:15 a.m.So we werent allowed in.We tried to argue with the guards but they didnt budge.They wanted us to submit our I-cards and wanted us to shell some money out.We were adamant too.After having shooed off from there,we thought of going to friends' flats but we were six of us and the flats were pretty far.So we chucked that thought and went straight to 'Shivajinagar Bus stand'.

We all were so exhausted that we found some benches and let ourselves fall asleep there.But it wasnt cosy there.I had a look around and envied all the people who were sound asleep.I and Jitu had a walk around the bus station to see if there are some benches on footpath where we could lay for some time.But all were occupied already.We just could not help but laugh at our plight.So we just came back and had short naps before it was 5.00 .We headed back to hostel asap and threw ourselves on bed.That was the end of that illfated night.

Nevertheless ,it is something to be cherished. After all when we are at end of some journey(like the one we are at),it is incidents like this that make the journey and the end beautiful and memorable,isnt it??

A hard attempt at sleeping....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kv1cb6LbXyg/S84AVIjx3qI/AAAAAAAAAOQ/0dAJvgpREa0/s400/Image1054.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5462303761121795746" />
Souls deprived of sleep....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kv1cb6LbXyg/S84A5t1IZHI/AAAAAAAAAOY/uXZBuP3431E/s400/Image1052.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5462304389601977458" />
I envied all of them...sleeping so peacefully.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kv1cb6LbXyg/S84B9H4K0eI/AAAAAAAAAOg/TiBfwWoR5FE/s400/Image1062.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5462305547645276642" />Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-65923963581858939302010-04-16T02:42:00.003+05:302010-04-16T03:01:46.559+05:30Being 21....... Another sleepless night......3rd in a row.And the next day when I am gonna carry these swollen eyes around,there are gonna be accusations that I do nothing but sleep the whole day.Sleepless nights arent new for me.I have had them before but they have never troubled me the way they are doing now.

Earlier during sleepless nights, I used to enjoy tossing over pillow,smiling a bit at some joke cracked earlier during the day.I loved to dream with eyes wide open and build my castle of thoughts during such nights.And when I did neither of these things I either found solace in reading,writing or listening to my favourite music.

But nothing has proved helpful the past 3 nights.I tried to recollect any pleasant thing that happened during the day but could not do so.I took a pen to write and ended up writing crap(like the one i m doing right now..).I tried to read and realised that I had been reading the same page for the past 15 minutes.I put on my headphones to listen my favourite tracks and found them monotonous.

Huh.....is it the nostalgia about leavin the college thats slowly creepin in? or is it the WAit for something that is elusive? As I write this, I see pages of a half-read "Twilight" thats lying on my bed, flipping over.And I m going to give it a try.Lets see if sleep beckons me this time...Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-53194514521897362832010-03-28T01:03:00.002+05:302010-03-28T01:08:03.538+05:30Previous post ...revisited..<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 230px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_kv1cb6LbXyg/S65dv5pc98I/AAAAAAAAANo/6O08vws542w/s400/with+shankar+mahadevan.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5453399276302170050" />
Hiya...I just forgot to introduce my team in the pic in the previous post-a mistake on my part-my sincere apologies..

Anyways...from left to right in the pic we have..the always energetic VINIT,the ever charming SAYALI,then there is me followed by the man who needs no introduction(:-)),the very endearing and always supportive SHYAMA(our dance section head)...the very funny RONAK and finally the always smiling,MADHURI

Hey..I also forgot to mention our achievements-- 3rd prize for choreography and 2nd prize for group dance.Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-60873174042747449002010-03-15T18:32:00.003+05:302010-03-15T18:38:44.047+05:30A brief encounter with the maestro,Shankar Mahadevan.....<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 230px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_kv1cb6LbXyg/S54w57CQGWI/AAAAAAAAANc/_GT2W_uh25Q/s400/with+shankar+mahadevan.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5448846370822691170" />
Yes...I was amongst the few priviledged ones who got to be at an arm's distance from the maestro,Shankar Mahadevan.The affair--Firodiya prize distribution ceremony and venue--the always crowded..Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium.COEP was on a roll that day.Having won two elite Karandaks (Purushottam and Firodiya) in the very same year after a longing gap of 31 years(this feat was achieved by COEP itself 31 years ago),every COEPian present there had a reason to show off and every single person from other college had a reason to envy us.

Boys clad in white kurta dhoti and pheta...and girls clad in navwari...took Yashwantra natyagruha by storm that day.Waving flags and the noise of Dhol .taashas and slogans of "Aawaaz kunacha .....COEP cha" added to the already established "maazzzz" of COEP.

Prior to this the atmosphere was built up by Shankar Mahadevan who sang Mitwa and Man Udhan waryache..and took the audience in his awe.Watching him live was a treat to eyes and to hear him was a celestial feeling. I always wondered what was it about a celebrity that everybody goes ga-ga in their presence .It was that day that I realised that its an aura that they carry with them that enchants people.When we walked up to the stage to recieve the 2nd pirze for group dance in firodiya(in the pic)...I could feel that aura ...it was a distinct feeling.

That evening was special in its own way coz my mom and dad along with tai,jiju and my neice and nephew had come over to watch the performance for the first time.It was an evening that cannot be forgotten....!!!!Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-25823128980758042572010-02-27T13:13:00.002+05:302010-02-27T13:24:44.408+05:30Things I badly missed during the last two months........ Hello people...I am back with a bang(errrr....sounds quite pretentious Akshay...get back to ground..no one has been waiting for u....)

Well...I believe I have been quite outta circuit for a long long time and now...it really feels great to get back to blogging.Actually I was very much occupied with Firodiya practices.Firodiya is an intercollegiate competition in which we recorded a historic win this year..I ll get back to it in the next post.As of now I m gonna write about things that I badly missed the last two months..

Hmmm....So during those two fateful months..I badly missed...:-

-->writing a blog...

-->sending mails to people.

-->looking myself into the mirror and grinning..

-->the quality time with my closest friends and the pranks and jokes

-->calling my school friends..

-->I missed my classmates and the lectures.

-->watching a good movie..

-->listening to my favourite songs.

-->reading books..(well not exactly..i did manage to read at least 1 page of a novel a day..)

-->One of the things that I missed the most was the two trips that my classmates had---to Bhimashankar and to Alibagh and I repent failing to attend them..damn me!!

-->Another thing that I missed equally was the weekend Pankhudi class and kids...I am dying to get back with those kids and my friends from Pankhudi.

-->I missed the feeling when I used to just lay down on bed before sleep and just dream with open eyes..... dreams that I know will beat the hell outta me to make them come true..

-->I missed my moments of solitude during which I used to brainstorm to come up with sweetest lines to say.

and last but certainly not the least I honestly missed saying sweetest things that I always do...hehe.

Bubye people and have a blast this holi!!Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-80498401087219834232010-01-08T21:53:00.008+05:302010-01-08T22:08:45.488+05:30Sid,my nephew,a wannabe hip-hopper???<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kv1cb6LbXyg/S0dfUqznHpI/AAAAAAAAANQ/fxOCBFdS0nE/s400/02012010115.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424409084883836562" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_kv1cb6LbXyg/S0dfQcSsvJI/AAAAAAAAANI/dGSFDlv4y-M/s400/02012010117.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424409012268219538" />

Firstly ,wish u all a very happy and a prosperous new year!!
A few days ago ,I had been to Mumbai at my sister's place where I took these snaps of SIddhu(my nephew) when he had donned my tshirt.

I insisted that he pose for a photograph.I didnt have to tell him anything ..he got the glasses and happily posed a "YO" gesture.I cud see some signs of a hip-hopper in him.And I am sure that after watching "3 IDIOTS"..Jiju(his father ..) wont mind if he wants to be one !!!

And people,what do you think about the attitude that Siddhu shows off in these pics?Dont you think he has learnt it from me??..hehehehe:-)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kv1cb6LbXyg/S0deZQbGF9I/AAAAAAAAANA/OgLcFubxVQU/s400/02012010118.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424408064189405138" />
P.S:- And for my friends from btech Computer and I.T belonging to A.I batch...A.I tshirt ROCKS on my nephew too.!!!Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-4828597045791346042009-12-28T23:32:00.004+05:302009-12-28T23:46:06.798+05:30A new boy in the town....
Three years ago there was a new boy in the town,
Far away from home & just 17 down!!

Struggles and Failures ,he had never seen,
Broken and Alone,he had never been!!

Mom's immaculate love & Dad's soothing touch,
Time & again,he missed them so much!!

Acquaintances he gained,new chums he made,
Happiness ushered in and lonliness did fade!!

Conquering new horizons,pinnacles he did reach,
Glad he was,he had finally carved a niche.

So high was his stride,even the heavens would bow,
What lay in the future,he could never now!!

He misbelieved that his fortune was such,
that he was the Man with Midas touch!!

Then there was a fall & down came the castle,
His life took a backseat,he could no more hustle!!

Though he put his heart & soul,he got nothing alas,
It then dawned on him that he wasnt Midas!!

Came to his rescue,a self imposed exile,
He learnt to be modest & fight the vile!!

He still wants to conquer horizons & does not put on airs,
He values relationships & about friends he cares!!

Years have passed,he is no more new in town,
Grown with some experiences,he is now 20 down!!Akshayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502499236668199915noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2593623659841174117.post-73438243851345565302009-12-23T20:56:00.009+05:302009-12-23T21:24:16.634+05:30Pics worth having a look at!!! Some days ago ,an IT expo had been set up at our College Playground.Our College Playground is mostly used for such kind of expos.Computer peripharals are available at cheaper rates at such expos. I along with my bunch of friends decided to check it out.

When we entered the expo ,we also noticed a photo exhibition being set up aside by Sakaal group.After kinda exploring the expo,we reluctantly went to the photo exhibition.But the pics put up there were so astonishing and captivating that I borrowed Karan's phone and snapped some interesting pics there.(Ohh,I just remembered getting a good camera having a good megapixel quality goes on my wish list).

Here are some of the pics...To view more such interesting ones visit http://picasaweb.google.com/akshay160489/Exhibition#.and click on SLIDESHOW on upper left corner.

<img style="float:left;
